8 signs of Imposter syndrome

8 signs of Imposter syndrome

“Do you think I’m good enough?” I asked him

“I think you’re doing great,” he answered.

Though I don’t suddenly feel like I’ve been cured from my imposter syndrome, it sure helps to feel supported. I know that a little bit of external validation often helps me feel a little less like a failure.

It helps there are people who hug me from time to time,

tell me I’m doing alright

It helps to see someone sign up to my Patreon

or place an order to my shop

It helps to see my work reshared and liked.

It helps to see a new person following my page.

It is hard to need a constant sign of approval, but I know it is part of the Imposter Syndrome. I know this results from the perfectionism I needed to achieve on a personal level as I’ve felt devalued after having gone through years of abuse. I became a perfectionist and self-saboteur all at once.

What Is Imposter Syndrome? Impostor syndrome (IS) refers to an internal experience of believing that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be.

Imposter Syndrome gets “laughed away” or joked about a lot, but it is as valuable and needs the same amount of attention as I had to do when I got diagnosed with  OCD, ED, anxiety and depression.

If you feel like you have any of these signs as well, you might also struggle with imposter syndrome:

– Reference your success to external factors

– Criticize your performance

– Being unable to realistically assess your competence and skills

– feeling fearful you won’t live up to expectations

– Overachieving

– Self-sabotaging your success

– Self-doubt

– Setting very challenging goals and feeling disappointed when you don’t meet them

Be kind to yourself 💜 you’re doing great! 💜

Massive thank you to my Patrons for supporting me to make these illustration and make me feel more comfortable in my vulnerability 💜

xoxo

Comeback comic: what happened this past year

I never thought this year would be this life altering. I never wanted it to be either. I’m so neck deep in change and chaos that work and ME weren’t even a priority anymore. I just had to survive and let life guide me towards the next step.

I look pregnant

I look down and I notice a bigger belly. I always imagined my body would look exactly like this when I got pregnant. I imagine it growing as the weeks go by.I feel bloated, there’s an unfamiliar pain in my stomach and I have no idea what is happening inside. I read about these similarities during pregnancy.

Squishy bum 🍑

Our thighs never STOP being cute - I don’t see where thighs stop being cute and start to become “a working point” “an issue” or just plain “gross”.
